our valentine's cards...

so here's my attempt to get the mommy of the year award: homemade valentine's day cards made with taylor. i saw the cutest ones in february's better homes and gardens (it's not online for some reason) and thought i could totally do that. and we did :) well, let's just say taylor did a lot of cutting on a random sheet of paper (she got bored pretty quickly) and then her little helpers pasted, cut, and assembled. and then she chimed back in to do her own "original artwork" on the inside of the cards. it was a lot of fun and super inexpensive (cupcake holders, construction paper, heart stickers, and scrapbook paper). sadly, we are leaving for atlanta today so she will miss her class valentine's party but i promise to make it up to her :)

isn't it insane how something so simple can make such an amazing impact?

little man.

i think my little man is trying to tell me he's ready for some attention. for the past month, i have done a fairly good job of concealing him. i throw on a puffy vest and zip it up. i thought i was pulling it off pretty well until my dad informed me otherwise. so maybe it's time to let the little man out. b/c my bump is definitely in full effect. and one person who is very aware of that is barron, my golden. he follows me EVERYWHERE...around the house, to the bathroom, to bed...in fact, as i type he is lying at my feet.
by this time w/ my first pregnancy, i think i had the entire nursery picked out...her closet was full of cute outfits and toys. but w/ the second...not so much. people keep asking me what am i doing for the nursery and i stare at them blankly. i have no idea. i'm so use to girl things and now that a boy is entering my world, i'm being thrown for a loop. but i know i don't want him surrounded by a sea of pink....so i've got to get focused. it's time to give #2 the attention he deserves...
and i think i'll start by saying he should totally be wearing one of these ittikid onesie...i mean, how cute are they?!!

etsy love.

i think it is really important to give compliments where they are deserved. since we recently moved to a new town, i was in need of some new things....mostly in the way of address labels, business cards, etc. when i started shannon darby design four years ago, i went out and had a logo designed and spent a lot of money on business cards, letterhead, and envelops....and ordered way too many. well this time, i decided to take a different approach. and i am so happy with my results. which is why i wanted to share them with you. and b/c i would like to give them a little shout out in hopes that maybe they can get some future business....
so here they are....super cute items, very sweet girls that designed them, budget conscious, and one happy customer.

1. return address label by lettergirl....i went with a self inking stamp and love it. urban grace did a post on her adorable address stamps and i bookmarked it for the future. christmas came around and my fab return address label landed at my house thanks to my mother-in-law.
2. address stickers by bohtieque...i bought these adorable stickers for The Designer's Attic. i am putting them on my items that i ship out. great price....cute stickers.
3. calling cards/ business cards in my case, by pixelimpress. great, very hip design patterns. pam is a delight to work with and even broke my order into two color ways- 25 turquoise and 25 pink zig zag business cards. 50 total per order at a great price (especially if you have designed a business card and then had them printed).

so go out and support handmade/ good girls!! i am sure happy i did :)
